What are the hours of the Food Pantry or other Food Programs?
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We are closed on Thursdays
What is the service area for Food Programs? Is it required to live in Georgetown to receive food?
You must reside in The Caring Place service area to obtain assistance from The Caring Place. This includes Georgetown, Andice, Bartlett, Florence, Granger, Jarrell, Jonah, Schwertner, Walburg, Weir and the portion of Hutto that lies within GISD.
How do I get fresh produce?
On the 1st, 3rd and 5th Monday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. we offer produce in our drive-through. Please enroll at 2001 Railroad Avenue, Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
How do I sign up to get food?
For food-only services, a completed intake and USDA (food) form self-declaring both residency and income or food-related crisis statement. You can find this form on our website at www.caringplacetx.org/getfood or fill it out at Programs & Services at 2001 Railroad Avenue.
How often can I come to get food?
At this time, participants may pick up Food Pantry food once a month. (And can additionally utilize the Fresh Food for Families program or HOPE if they are 60+.)
What if I live out of the service area and I need food?
Visit Central Texas Food Bank’s website to find all of the food distribution sites in your area. Visit www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/findfood.
Do you have to be a legal resident to receive food from TCP?
No. We do not ask for that information.

We are open Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. You may visit our website at www.caringplacetx.org/gethelp for more information before you arrive. Then visit 2001 Railroad Avenue to seek assistance at the Programs & Services offices.
What is the service area for financial assistance?
You must reside in The Caring Place service area to obtain assistance from The Caring Place. This includes Georgetown, Andice, Bartlett, Florence, Granger, Jarrell, Jonah, Schwertner, Walburg, Weir and the portion of Hutto within GISD.
What if I live out of the service area and I need help?
Calling 2-1-1 is one way to learn about assistance in your area. Another resource is www.findhelp.org. You will enter your zip code to find resources near you.
How does someone get assistance at The Caring Place?

What is required to receive assistance?
For all services beyond food, the intake and USDA form must be completed along with verification of residency within the TCP service area, proof of identification for every person in the family and a verifiable proof of crisis related to the requested assistance. You can find these forms at caringplacetx.org/gethelp.
What type of assistance can I get at The Caring Place?
TCP provides assistance with basic needs, including a food pantry program, financial assistance with rent, mortgage, utility, some medical assistance, clothing, emergency shelter and transportation. We also offer a case management program designed to support a neighbor with longer-term goals.
About Donations of Items or Food:
What are the hours of the drive-through for item donations?
Donation hours are Monday - Saturday,10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at 2000 Railroad Avenue. For a full list of items we take and do not take, visit our website at www.caringplacetx.org/donatemystuff. Please be sure your loose items are in a box or bag that you can part with so that we can keep our Donation line moving.

Can you pick up my stuff to donate?
We pick up quality furniture or large pieces in a limited area. Call and leave a message with the Donations department at 512-943-0711 to schedule that service. To view the pick-up area and further instructions, visit www.caringplacetx.org/donatemystuff.
About Volunteering:
When can current volunteers begin volunteering?
If you are an onboarded volunteer at The Caring Place there are several opportunities to volunteer. Be sure to inform our Human Resources Manager that you are interested in returning. Current volunteers should email questions to dhilgeman@caringplacetx.org.
When can new individuals begin the onboarding process to become a volunteer?
NOW! We are now accepting new volunteer applications! You can fill out the application at www.caringplacetx.org/volunteer.
When can community groups come to volunteer?
Now! We are honored that so many groups have an interest in volunteering here, and we look forward to sharing our needs with you. We do limit the number in the group and the times, so please give us a call at 512-943-0702 or email Rita Turner at rturner@caringplacetx.org.

What are the hours of the thrift stores?
The Shops at The Caring Place at 2000 Railroad Avenue is open Monday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Second Helping at 3700 Williams Drive is open Tuesday - Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

About Community:
How and when do I refer someone to TCP?
We encourage anyone to contact us at 512-943-0700 for more information. While TCP will always provide support to someone in need, we ask that you do not promise any assistance like shelter or financial assistance, as we do have guidelines and eligibility requirements. TCP will, at the very least, always ensure that a person is provided emergency food and clothing, as well as appropriate referrals.
How can I make a monetary gift?
Monetary gifts are always appreciated. We are a Charity Navigator 4-Star Charity which means we are a vetted non-profit that responsibly uses funds to carry out our mission. Visit www.caringplacetx.org/donate.
What is Shopping for Good and how do I do it?
