Loads of Caring is a valuable resource for the community, providing much-needed assistance to those who are struggling financially. To learn more about volunteering or getting involved, please contact Erin Becnel, Programs and Services Director, at ebecnel@caringplacetx.org.
Every 2nd Tuesday and Last Thursday of each month at Washatopia (1910 S. Austin Ave.).
All are welcome. No proof of need. First Come, First Serve.
Loads of Caring
This service is available to all individuals and families in our service area.
- Loads of Caring is free and on a first come, first serve basis.
- Neighbors bring their laundry and run the washing machines themselves.
- We are incredibly grateful to our host teams for their generous support in funding these events. They’ve committed to covering two-thirds of the costs, with Washatopia kindly contributing the remaining third. Many teams also provide event supplies, and we’ll handle any additional purchases.
- Host Teams organize and volunteer each service day.
Host Teams
Host Teams are the heart of our Loads of Caring events. By providing volunteers and support, you’ll make a profound difference in the lives of our neighbors. It’s a hands-on experience filled with joy, compassion, and connection.
- Host Teams typically consist of 6-8 caring individuals.
- We find it works best to have half your team volunteer from 4 to 6 PM and the other half from 6 to 8 PM.
- The Caring Place provides all the necessary training and support, including an experienced volunteer to guide you through the process.
- Loads of Caring is more than just clean clothes. It’s about building relationships, offering comfort, and creating a welcoming space for everyone.
- Having a team member who speaks Spanish is always a plus, as it helps us connect with more members of our community.
